The modern era of grape growing in Oregon began in the Umpqua Valley with the first commercial planting of fine wine grapes northwest of Roseburg in 1961.  Today family owned artisan wineries are creating wines of distinctive quality and character that are receiving international acclaim for the Umpqua Valley. 

Abacela Winery

Abacela Winery owners Earl and Hilda Jones have chosen this region because it offers the climate they need to make red wines from a variety of grapes. Becker Vineyard is a small family owned and operated winery located seven miles north of Roseburg.   Landscaping, nature trails, views of the Callahan's and sunsets provide just a few appeals at our tasting room besides our great wine. Situated in a unique area of The Umpqua Valley, the location of Bradley Vineyards boasts the ideal soil and weather conditions for growing pinot noir, riesling and gewürztraminer grapes.  These exceptional vines were planted in 1983 and now cover over 25 acres in beautiful Elkton.  This picturesque vineyard, with its breathtaking view of the Oregon coastal mountains, is the perfect setting for a picnic or as a wedding site.  Hours are 11:00 am to 5:00 pm Wednesday - Sunday. Brandborg Vineyard & Winery

This new vineyard and winery is located on 145 acres in the coastal hills of the Umpqua Valley in the rural community of Elkton. Opened in April 2002, the owners are prepared to take advantage of the unique opportunities for many grape varieties and wine types which the Umpqua offers. Chateau Nonchalant Vineyards

Chateau Nonchalant grows and provides Pinot Noir, Tempranillo, and Syrah grapes for the wine industry.  Their grapes are sought by wineries in the Umpqua and the Willamette Valleys in the state of Oregon.  Started in 1998 by Weldon and Vicki Manning, their dream was to make a place where friends would come to enjoy the fruits of the vine and their labor.  They invite you to visit their unique tasting room, and discover the meaning of "nonchalant."  Tasting Room to open daily 11:00 am to 5;00 pm.  1329 Larsen Road, Roseburg.  Information: (541) 679-2394

Delfino Vineyards

Delfino Vineyards is a family owned and operated estate winery. DeNino Umpqua River Vineyards

The wines by DeNino Umpqua River Vineyards are available at Dino's Ristorante Italino, operated by the DeNino Family. Their restaurant is located at 404 SE Jackson in downtown Roseburg. Girardet Wine Cellars

Girardet is one of Oregon's oldest wine estates, located on southwest facing slopes outside of Roseburg.  Founders Philippe and Bonnie Girardet established this European-style wine estate in 1971 with an intuition that this picturesque site resembled the best vineyard lands of Europe.  Over the years they were proven right; the site features an ideal microclimate on the edge of the warmer interior Umpqua Valley and the cooler coastal mountain range. Second generation Winemaker, Marc Girardet, was taught the family tradition of winemaking working alongside his father Philippe, and since 1999 has been carrying on the passion for hand-crafting extraordinary wines with a touch of Old World.  Girardet welcomes visitors year-round for tasting, sales and tours.  A picnic spot with vineyard view is available for visitors. Henry Estate Winery

Scott Henry was one of the first to explore wine growing in the Umpqua Valley. He soon demonstrated that the area was perfect- the versatile climate combined with a multitude of soil geographies provides the most diversified growing region in the state. The Umpqua Valley is blessed with warm summer days and cool nights that enhance the flavor and varietal characteristics of grapes. HillCrest Vineyard

HillCrest Vineyard is the oldest continuously operating vinifera winery in Oregon. In 1961 Richard Sommer was the first to see the possibility of growing winegrapes in the Umpqua Valley and take the risk so far north - but others followed and today Oregon has over 100 wineries. Julianna Vineyards

MarshAnne Landing, the site of a former stagecoach stop in the beautiful Umpqua Valley in Southern Oregon, is where Gregory Marsh and Frances Anne Cramer landed to pursue their dreams of planting wine grape varieties traditionally grown in the Rhone and Bordeaux regions of France. Shallow soils, long growing seasons, cool nights and limited yields contribute to the "out of this world" character of MarshAnne Landing wines. Reustle Prayer Rock Vineyards

River's Edge Winery, founded in 1998, specializes in the productions of the highest quality pinot noir wines. As its name implies, the winery is located on the edge of the Umpqua River in the northern most part of the Umpqua Valley. Two estate vineyards, Black Oak and Elkton, are the primary sources of River's Edge wines. These two vineyards were planted in 1973 and are among the oldest in the state. The winery produces Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay & Gewutztraminer. Hours are 11:00 am to 5:00 pm, daily throughout the summer and Wednesday through Sunday until the end of November.
